Solution for yesterday’s problem

A can do a work in 10 days; A and B together in 6 days

B alone can do that in (1/6 -1/10 = 1/15) 15 days

Therefore the efficiency ratio of A to B is 15/10 or 3/2 ( efficiency ratio is the inverse of time ratio)

Fastrac method

Efficiency ratio is A+B: A-(A+B) = 6:4 or 3:2

Today’s problem

A sum of $700 is to be distributed to give cash prizes to seven students of a school for their overall academic performance. If each prize is $20 less than its preceding prize, find the value of the first prize (asked by Preeti)
